UNIVERSITY OF ABERDEEN SIGNS PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT WITH AFS
University of Aberdeen is one of the world leading provider of education and each year the University welcomes about 500 African students, many of whom are looking to develop careers in the global energy, information technology and business sectors. The University has also won several awards including the best education provider of the year 2013. The Memorandum of Agreement is by and between the University Court of the University of Aberdeen and African Forum Scotland with the following goals:
• Collaborative links with existing African Forum Scotland regional hubs in sub-Saharan Africa to establish partnerships with universities in sub-Saharan Africa in areas of shared interest.
• Develop sustained partnerships in some of the following possible areas of relevance to sub-Saharan Africa:- o Energy – including, but not limited to oil and gas, renewables, efficiency, security etc.
o Sustainable Development o Environment and Food Security
o Public Private Partnerships and business start –up
o Accessibility of education (on-line) and capacity building in research
• Seminars/conference collaborations, including at the forthcoming Commonwealth Games meeting and a joint conference in Aberdeen on Energy for participants from sub-Saharan Africa and key strategic partners elsewhere;
• Knowledge exchange and sharing of publications and research reports.
THE SOUTH AFRICAN CONSULATE IN SCOTLAND MEETS AFRICAN FORUM SCOTLAND
The South Africa Horary Consul for Scotland visited African Forum Scotland. Discussions are ongoing on areas of mutual interest that will benefit South African in Scotland and abroad. One of the areas discussed is business and joint programs that will promote trade and bilateral relations in Africa.

African Forum Scotland (AFS) hosted the Pro Vice Chancellor and Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University in Glasgow in the presence of The Scottish
Minister for External Relations.
The University is ready to partner with AFS to promote Education and consultancy.
